Results

The West Texas Championships held at the 1st Community Federal Credit Union Spur Arena in San Angelo, Texas, June 5-7, 2020 is an event that ropers from all over look forward to.   The X-Treme Team Roping crew welcomed lots of ropers to a weekend of cash, prizes and lots of fun in the climate controlled facility.   

The event kicked off Friday with the Open roping and Andrew Livingston and Truman Magnus were the winners.  They were 42.32 on five steers and received $2500 for their efforts.  Tyler Magnus of Mason, Texas  and Whit Kitchens from Mullin, Texas were second. Jake Brown and Joel Galvan Jr  took home the incentive win.

The next roping on the agenda was the #15.5 Division.  Jake Brown and Calvin H Taylor rose to take top honors.  They roped four head in 28.06 seconds and took home $3000, trophy X-Treme knives and X-Treme Team Roping Finals shootouts. Ruby Magnus and Kipp Harrell were 28.29 second on four steers and won second place which was worth $2000.  Third place went to Stratton Lopez and Joel Galvan Jr while Carter Roberson and Josh Patton took home fourth place.

Truman Magnus struck again this time with partner and Andrew Storey.  They roped four steers in 31.59 seconds and won first place in the #13.5 Division.  They received $3000, trophy X-Treme knives and X-Treme Team Roping Finals shootouts for their efforts.  Trent Galvan and Calvin Taylor were second place with a time of 32.48 on four steers, which was worth $2000. Myles Keeney and Tyler Magnus took home third place.

Saturday morning kicked off with the X-Treme specialty roping, the #12.5 Gold roping. Sam Stephens and Will Harris took home the win and $3400, trophy X-Treme knives and X-Treme Team Roping Finals shootouts.  They were 36.35 on four steers.  Trey Hale of Ozona, Texas and Michael Rainey from Lamesa, Texas were second, which was worth $2500 and X-Treme Team Roping Finals shootouts.  Third place went to Brandon Wilson and Harris while Tommy Zant and Kip Middleton were fourth place.

The #12.5 Division was next and Diego Simental and Andrew Storey were the champions.  They roped four steers in 34.01 seconds and received $5000, trophy X-Treme knives and X-Treme Team Roping Finals shootouts for their efforts.  Tommy Zant and Glyn Hutto were a smooth 10.18 on their short round steer to give them second place, $3500 and X-Treme Team Roping Finals shootouts.  Third place went to the team of brothers, Callahan and Calvin H Taylor while Mason Hutton and Storey won fourth.   

The #11.5  Division was next on the agenda and Jeryn Ellerd and Rustin Baldwin were the champions.  They were 31.78 seconds on four steers. They received $6500, trophy X-Treme knives and X-Treme Team Roping Finals shootouts.  Second place went to Worm Norris of Wall, Texas and Caden Beatty from Levelland, Texas.  They received $4500 and X-Treme Team Roping Finals shootouts.  The third place winners were Walker Harris and Randy Edwards. Ladd Hughes and Clay Hale received fourth place

Saturday wrapped up with the #10.5 Division.  The Mertzon, Texas team of Slade Allen and Jared Harris were crowned the champions.  They were 34.51 seconds on four steers and received $6800, trophy X-Treme knives and X-Treme Team Roping Finals shootouts for their efforts.  Second place, $4600 and X-Treme Team Roping Finals shootouts went to Callahan Taylor and Andrew Storey. Third place winners were Layne Rogers and Logan Guerin while Bridger Ketcham and Rustin Baldwin won fourth. 

Sunday kicked off bright and early with the X-Treme specialty roping, the #10.5 Gold.  Ricky Brooks and Johnny Guess were high team back.  They were a smooth 10.89 on their short round steer to win first with a time of 38.12 seconds of four steers.  It was worth $7000, trophy X-Treme knives and X-Treme Team Roping Finals shootouts.  Second place went to Rob Smets and Ben Clements.  They took home $5000 and X-Treme Team Roping Finals shootouts.  Brooks struck again for third place with partner Obed Cervantes.  They received $4000 and X-Treme Team Roping Finals shootouts.  Fourth place went to David Carter and Joel Fuchs.

Next on the agenda was the #9.5 Prize Division.  Whitt Bierschwale of Mason, Texas and Morgan Luce from Coahoma, Texas were the champions.  They roped four steers in 29.40 seconds, while taking home $10,000, trophy X-Treme saddles and X-Treme Team Roping Finals shootouts.  Glover Coats and Kelby Frizzell were 34.20 seconds on four steers which won them second place, trophy buckles, $6000 and X-Treme Team Roping Finals shootouts.  Third place went to the brother/sister team of AnnMarie Egusquiza and Cody Egusquiza.  They received trophy buckles, $5000 and X-Treme Team Roping Finals shootouts.  Fourth place winners were Jerry Surber and Layne Rogers receiving trophy breast collars, $4000 and X-Treme Team Roping Finals shootouts.  Logan Guerin and Myles Keeney received fifth place, $2500, trophy breast collars and X-Treme Team Roping Finals shootouts.  Everyone who made the short round received money and X-Treme Team Roping Finals shootouts.

The final roping of the weekend was the #8.5 Prize Division.  Whitt Bierschwale and Morgan Luce struck again.  They were crowned the champions with a time of 29.30 on three steers.  They received $5000, trophy X-Treme saddles and X-Treme Team Roping Finals shootouts.  Armando Villa and Zack Stone were the second placed winners.  They took home $4000, trophy buckles and X-Treme Team Roping Finals shootouts.  Third place went to Brady Robert and Nathan Barragan. They received $3000, trophy buckles and X-Treme Team Roping Finals shootouts.  Pason Patton and Britton Blecher won fourth place, $2000, trophy breast collars and X-Treme Team Roping Finals shootouts.  Fifth place went to Mason Miller and Hayden Sanders.  It gave them $1500, trophy breast collars and X-Treme Team Roping Finals shootouts.  Everyone that made the short round received money and X-Treme Team Roping Finals shootouts.

The 2020 West Texas Championships came to a close Sunday night and everyone deemed the roping a huge success.  Everyone was happy to see their friends and get to rope at a fun event.  They are already planning on their shootouts at the X-Treme Team Roping finals, August 20-23.
