The Brazos Valley Classic was held on February 7-9, 2020 and went off without a hitch.  Team ropers from all over the region converged on Bryan, Texas for a weekend full of great cattle and team roping action.  

The weekend was kicked off with the best ropers in the world going against each other for spots to The American Semi-Finals in The American Qualifier, followed by the Open Division.  The champions of the American Qualifier were the team of Erich Rogers and Paden Bray with 28.38 seconds on four steers. Paden Bray struck again for second place with Aaron Tsinigine, they were 29.64 on four steers. Both teams received qualifications to the American Semi-finals. The Open Division champions were the team of Luke Brown and Patrick Smith with a time of 29.70 on five steers, winning them $6800, trophy X-Treme Team Roping Knives, and X-Treme Team Roping shootouts.  Luke Brown took home second place as well, this time with partner Wesley Thorp.  They were 30.31 seconds on five steers and received $5100 and X-Treme Team Roping shootouts.  Third place went to Colby Lovell and Patrick Smith, receiving $3400 and X-Treme Team Roping shootouts.  Fourth place went to Tyler Wade and Trey Yates receiving $1700 and X-Treme Team Roping shootouts.  Kaleb Driggers and Cory Petska teamed up to take home fifth place. 

The next roping of the day was the #15.5 Division and the champions were the team of Cash Palmore and Justin Copp with a time of 29.00 on four steers. They received $3600, trophy X-Treme Team Roping Knives, and X-Treme Team Roping shootouts for their efforts.  Second place would go to the fourth high team back of Michael Williamson and Whit Kitchens. They were 30.61 seconds on four steers, giving them $2100 and X-Treme Team Roping shootouts. Third place went to Jayse Tettenhorst and Kaden Profili. They won $1400 and X-Treme Team Roping shootouts. Leander Williams and Whit Kitchens took home fourth place.

Cash Palmore and Jayse Tettenhorst were the champions of the #13.5 Division with a 27.78 on four steers. They took home $3,000, trophy X-Treme Team Roping knives, and X-Treme Team Roping shootouts for their efforts.  Second Place went to the team of John Glesmann and Montrel Gilder. Coming from the seventh call back position they were 6.93 on their short round steer for a total of 29.39 on four steers.  They won $1800 and X-Treme Team Roping shootouts.  Third place was the Franklin, Texas and Lockhart, Texas team of Michael Williamson and Justin Vallejo. They won $1200 and X-Treme Team Roping shootouts.  Fourth went to Eric Moody and Brody Kilgore.

The #12.5 X-Treme Gold roping exclusive only to X-Treme Team Roping ended a day full of great team roping action. Eric Moody and Greg Zwernemann won the roping with a 32.88 on four steers. They received $2000, X-Treme Trophy Cups, and X-Treme Team Roping shootouts.  Second place went to Herman Wheaton and Chris Lamance which gave them $1400 and X-Treme Team Roping shootouts.  

The #12.5 Division kicked off Saturday at the Brazos Valley Classic. Coming from the sixth high team back with a time of 5.41 on their short round steer, Cody Watson and Justin Vallejo took home the win. With a total of 35.04 seconds on four steers they received $3800, trophy X-Treme Team Roping knives, and X-Treme Team Roping shootouts. Second place went to Eric Moody and Greg Zwernemann with 35.82 seconds on four steers.  They won $2300 and X-Treme Team Roping shootouts.  Third place would go to the south Texas team of Wesley Welch and Kyle Dunk. They won $1500 and X-Treme Team Roping shootouts for their efforts.  Fourth went to Gibson Granville and Shayne Krolcyzk.  

The team of Colby McDonald and Ryan Davis were the champions of the #11.5 Division. They were 35.59 seconds on four steers and earned $3500, trophy Xtreme Team Roping knives and X-Treme Team Roping shootouts. Second place went to Herman Wheaton and Connor Dickson with a total of 38.11 second on four steers. They won $2500 and X-Treme Team Roping Shootouts.  Randall McKnight and Justin Elms placed third in the average and received $1500 and X-Treme Team Roping shootouts. Fourth place went to the team of Shon Wise and Trey Alegria.

Colby McDonald would strike gold again in the #10.5 Division.  This time with partner Kreese Milligan, they were 34.10 on four steers for first place in the average.  They won $4000, trophy X-Treme Team Roping knives and X-Treme Team Roping shootouts.  Second place went to the Bruceville and Lott, Texas team of Joe Frerich and Brett Willberg.  They received $2700 and X-Treme Team Roping shootouts for their efforts.  Third place went to the team of Ben Clements and Carly Swaim, winning $1800 and X-Treme Team Roping shootouts.  Shakyle Wright and Kyle Dunk would take home fourth place and $1000.  Fifth place went to Anthony and Rankin Williams. 

Sunday morning kicked off with the #10.5 X-Treme Gold. This roping is held exclusively at X-Treme Team Roping events. Kevin Jones and Tyler Gurka finished the roping with a time of 39.39 seconds on four steers. This earned them first place, $5300 in cash, X-Treme trophy cups, and X-Treme Team Roping shootouts.  Second place went Chad and Greg Zwernemann with a time of 41.61 seconds on four steers.  They received $3600 and X-Treme Team Roping shootouts.  Billy Reagan and Tanner Rush won third place taking home $2700 and X-Treme Team Roping shootouts.  Fourth place went to Dennis Engelmann and Charlie Beach, receiving $2000 and X-Treme Team Roping shootouts.  

The average of the #9.5 Prize Division was won by the Normangee, Texas team of Kenton Spikes and Baylynn Hemphill.  They were 38.48 seconds on four steers and won $10,000 in cash, trophy X-Treme Team Roping saddles and X-Treme Team Roping shootouts.  Second place in the average went to the team of Wrangler Hammond and J P Cantu.  They won $6000 in cash, trophy Gist buckles, and X-Treme Team Roping shootouts.  Taking home third place, $4000 in cash, trophy Gist buckles and X-Treme Team Roping shootouts was Hank Balensiefer and Levi Martinez.  The fourth place team of James Shaw and Polo Cavazos received $3000in cash, trophy X-Treme Team Roping breast collars and X-Treme Team Roping shootouts.  Sam Martin and Kane Key won fifth place, $2500 in cash, trophy X-Treme Team Roping breast collars, and X-Treme Team Roping shootouts.  

The final roping of the weekend was the #8.5 Prize Roping. Taking home the win was the tenth high call back team of Aspyn Dent and Kaleb Hella with a total of 29.69 seconds on three steers. They won $5000 in cash, trophy X-Treme Team Roping saddles and X-Treme Team Roping shootouts.  Second place, $4000, trophy Gist buckles, and X-Treme Team Roping shootouts went to Albino Herrera and Bosten Oliver.  Aspyn Dent would strike again. This time for third place with partner J P Cantu. They won $3500, trophy Gist buckles, and X-Treme Team Roping shootouts.  Fourth place went to Albino Herrera and Keith Garrett. They received $2500, trophy X-Treme Team Roping breast collars, and X-Treme Team Roping shootouts.  Blaine Petersen and Seth Morgan took home fifth, $1800, trophy X-Treme Team Roping breast collars, and X-Treme Team Roping shootouts.  

All teams that made the short round received X-Treme Team Roping shootouts that can be used at the X-Treme Team Roping Finals scheduled for August 20-23, 2020.  As the Curtain fell on a great weekend of team roping at the Brazos Valley Classic everyone agreed that the event was a huge success.  The X-Treme Team Roping crew is already looking forward to seeing everyone at the next event, The Big Break, March 14-15 in Stephenville, TX.
