The Big Break was held the weekend of March 14 and 15, 2020, at Lonestar Arena in Stephenville Texas.  Team ropers from all over the Lonestar state traveled to “The Cowboy Capital” for a weekend full of great cattle and team roping action.  

The weekend was kicked off with the best ropers in the world going against each other in the Open Division. The Open Division champions were the team of Kaleb Driggers and Junior Nogueira with a time of 30.47 seconds on five steers. They received $5000, trophy Tres Rios buckles, and X-Treme Team Roping Finals shootouts.  Luke Brown and Hunter Koch teamed up to take home second place.  They were 31.53 seconds on five steers and received $4000 and X-Treme Team Roping Finals shootouts.  Third place went to Andrew Ward and Buddy Hawkins, receiving $3000 and X-Treme Team Roping Finals shootouts.  Fourth place went to Kolton Schmidt and Hunter Koch receiving $2000 and X-Treme Team Roping Finals shootouts.  Luke Brown and Jake Long teamed up to take home fifth place. 

California’s own Dallas Owen teamed up with the switch ender, Cody McCluskey, to win the #15.5 Division. They were 28.49 seconds on four steers. They received $2200, trophy Tres Rios buckles, and X-Treme Team Roping Finals shootouts for their efforts.  Second place would go to the fourth high team back of Cody Burney and Trey Johnson. They were 30.65 seconds on four steers, giving them $1600 and X-Treme Team Roping Finals shootouts. Third place went to Justin Parish and Trey Johnson. They won $1000 and X-Treme Team Roping Finals shootouts. .

Carson Brown and Colton Johnson were the champions of the #13.5 Division with a time of 33.87 on four steers. They took home $3,000, trophy Tres Rios buckles, and X-Treme Team Roping Finals shootouts for their efforts.  Second Place went to the team of Sarah and Matt Ingle with a total of 34.69 seconds on four steers.  They won $2500 and X-Treme Team Roping Finals shootouts.  Third place was the Millsap and Peaster, Texas team of Trey Oliver and Carson Pilgrim. They won $1500 and X-Treme Team Roping Finals shootouts.  Fourth went to Carson Thomas and Shawn Crockett  

The young guns team of Denton Parrish and Gabe Williams took home the victory in the #12.5 Division.  They were 33.87 seconds on four steers, giving them $4200, trophy Tres Rios Buckles, and X-Treme Team Roping Finals shootouts. Chase Spinks and Cody McCluskey roped four steers in 33.97 seconds to take home second place.  They took home $3200 and X-Treme Team Roping Finals shootouts. Third place went to Sarah and Matt Ingle with a time of 34.77 on four steers. They received $2000 and X-Treme Team Roping shootouts for their efforts.  Caden Harmon and Nicky Northcott were the fourth place team. 

Marissa Boisjoli and Willie Moreland teamed up in the #11.5 Division to take home the win.  They were 32.46 seconds on four steers and earned $4500, trophy Tres Rios buckles, and X-Treme Team Roping Finals shootouts. Second place went to Mason Vaculin and Ben Clements with a total of 37.11 second on four steers. They won $3500 and X-Treme Team Roping Finals Shootouts.  Travis Saunders and Kyle Ribble placed third in the average and received $2000 and X-Treme Team Roping Finals shootouts. Fourth place went to the team of Ty Olsen and Cody Egusquiza.

A Saturday full of outstanding team roping would end with  the #10.5 X-Treme Gold. This roping is held exclusively at X-Treme Team Roping. Belo Wiley and Ben Clements finished the roping with a time of 50.78 seconds on four steers. This earned them first place, $1800, X-Treme Trophy Cups, and X-Treme Team Roping shootouts.  Second place went to Troy Gibbs and Ben Clements. 

The #10.5 Division kicked off Sunday at The Big Break in Stephenville, Texas. Taking home the win was the team of Garret Korb and Cooper Boswell. They were 33.15 on four steers. They won $7000, trophy X-Treme Team Roping Saddles, and X-Treme Team Roping Finals shootouts.  Second place went to Gordon Carroll and John Paul Fowler with a total of 34.49 seconds on four steers.  They received $4000, trophy Tres Rios buckles, and X-Treme Team Roping Finals shootouts for their efforts.  Gordon Carroll would strike again this time for third place with partner Aaron Chamley.  They were 37.37 seconds on four steers, earning them $2000 and X-Treme Team Roping Finals shootouts.  Avery Foegelle and Clay Alexander would take home fourth place,  $1500 and X-Treme Team Roping Finals Shootouts.  

The average of the Super #9.5 Prize Division was won by Shawn Felton and Dillion Crumpler.  They were 36.70 seconds on four steers and won $6000, trophy X-Treme Team Roping Saddles, and X-Treme Team Roping Finals shootouts.  Second place in the average went to the team of Todd Martin and Jared Herbst.  They won $4000, Trophy Tres Rios Buckles, and X-Treme Team Roping Finals shootouts.  Taking home third place, $3000, Trophy Tres Rios Buckles, and X-Treme Team Roping Finals shootouts was the team of Wrangler Hammond and Junior Campbell.  The fourth place team of Tracy Sanders and Shy Pate. They received $2000, trophy X-Treme Team Roping knives, and X-Treme Team Roping shootouts.  Brice Beene and Shy Pate  won fifth place, $1000, trophy X-Treme Team Roping knives, and X-Treme Team Roping shootouts. 

The final roping of the weekend was the Super #8.5 Prize Roping. Taking home the win was the third high call back team of Raul Basurto and Jake Leach with a total of 25.78 seconds on three steers. They won $4000, trophy X-Treme Team Roping saddles, and X-Treme Team Roping Finals shootouts.  Second place, $3000, trophy Tres Rios buckles, and X-Treme Team Roping Finals shootouts went to Josie Durbin and Lucas Hogue. Jake Leach would strike again. This time for third place with partner Luke WIlliams. They won $2000, trophy Tres Rios buckles, and X-Treme Team Roping Finals shootouts.  Fourth place went to Chance Perkins and Brice Johnston. They received $1000, trophy X-Treme Team Roping knives, and X-Treme Team Roping Finals shootouts.  Raul Basurto and Raul Esquivel took home fifth place, $800, trophy X-Treme Team Roping knives, and X-Treme Team Roping Finals shootouts.  

All teams that made the short round received X-Treme Team Roping Finals shootouts that can be used at the X-Treme Team Roping Finals scheduled for August 20-23, 2020.  As the Big Break came to a close everyone agreed the weekend was a huge success.  The X-Treme Team Roping crew is looking forward to seeing everyone at the next event.
